Hello and Blessed Be! This is Amber Grimes, the founder of Mental Health for Witches. I sincerely thank you for taking the time to meet me today — and also for taking the time to be a part of our growing community.
In this short intro blog, I want to take some time to tell you about the MHW initiative. Many of you may have already met me — or you have become introduced to our community on social media such as Instagram, Twitter, or Facebook. That’s wonderful! These spaces are at the heart and soul of what we do.
However, I do want to reiterate for *everyone* just a little bit about why we are here and what it means for you.
MHW was born from my own personal experience as an empath, medium, and eventual practicing solitary witch and healer. Like many of you, I’ve lived a magical path all my life — but I have also been down a path full of challenges. I was born to a narcissistic mother and a father who used alcohol and other substances to cope with his own tragedies and trauma that he suffered as a child, so my early life was chaotic, which unfortunately continued after they divorced. While I have much to be grateful and thankful for, like a loving stepfather, wonderful siblings, and a nice upbringing when it comes to material things and the material world, I also share with many of you the lasting effects and symptoms of becoming hyper-vigilant and depressed due to years of neglect, chaos, and abuse.
There were times in my life where I wanted to take my pain out on everyone — or just quit entirely. There were also many years when I allowed other people to tell me that I was defective — or that my symptoms were going to be a detriment to my life. Eventually, through education and advocacy for myself and for the mental health community, I learned about my therapeutic and treatment options. I learned about the importance of therapy and mental health counseling and talking to someone.
I also learned to accept and understand that amidst the pain, I was being guided to a certain kind of life. There was always a voice telling me at the back of my mind that I was going to heal and help people. When I removed myself from the daily toxic pull of certain family members and began to listen to myself and my intuition, my emotional wellness, and even my physical health got a lot better.
Today, while I am learning and growing every day, I am in a place where I can share where I’ve come from in the realms of mental health, emotional health, community support and advocacy, and spirituality. I am not coming to you today as a guru or a medical expert. What I can offer is witchy, spiritual, and community-based support for mental health, emotional wellness, and holistic health.
Mental Health for Witches is pretty practical in its purpose. We are here to provide education, resources, and support for the witch and spiritualist in mind. It is like a mental health and holistic health community just for you. I am very excited about what 2021 has to offer, which we will get to in an upcoming blog and video.
Before this article comes to a close, I want to tell you a little bit about me. I have been practicing solitary witch for more than a decade. I am also a psychic medium and empath, a reiki practitioner, and a professional content writer with a BA degree in English and a minor in sociology. I also earned a graduate certificate in psychology as well as a university certified community reaching certificate.
I have experience as a Guardian Advocate in the courts for mental health patients, as well as a mental health psychiatry tech for a schizophrenia wing. My hope is that my combination of personal experience, professional experience, and spiritual gifts can make this community a resource for you and many others.
Stay tuned for more blogs, videos, a podcast, and even support groups and additional resources for the community in 2021. We will have services and tools to fit everyone. In the meantime, check us out on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter. You can read the rest of our articles on our blog.
In the meantime, I look forward to getting to know each and everyone of you.
May your day be filled with love and light,
Amber
